Part 26: Cornered

Gripping the tail in one hand and her dagger in the other, Clover readied herself for the approaching heffalumps. Immediately she knew going against them would be impossible. Their mechanical bodies gave no signs of a weakness. She called out to Piglet who was still fighting the dark lizard. At first he didn't seem to hear her. The second time she called he looked back as the lizard started to run off. For a moment he looked from her to the lizard, frozen in his tracks. As the heffalumps prepared to trample her, she watched Piglet, wondering if he would leave her for the lizard. In that instance, Clover felt the world about to sink away.
